Identification
Adults can reach 33 cm in length for a weight of 350 g. Plumage white with bright yellow undertail, erectile crest and cheek patch. This subspecies has a smaller bill and very faint small yellow cheek patch. Plumage more pure white.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs from Sumbawa to Timor. Species found in central Indonesia, in most of lesser Sundas and Timor. Also on Masalembu Besar. Lives in woodlands and cultivated areas, up to 1200 m.

IUCN RED LIST : CRITICALLY ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix I
Status : The species’ situation is critical in most of its range, being nearly extinct in many islands because of over trapping and habitat loss.
