Identification
Very small puffer species reaching only around 4 cm in length. Small upturned mouth, large red eyes. Overall coloration beige to yellow-beige with white belly. Large dark brown bands, sometimes forming vermiculations on flanks and back.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South East Asia and is endemic to the state of Sarawak, Malaysia, in northern Borneo. It is found in three major river systems. Lives in slow to medium-fast moving rivers, in shallow water areas.

Status : The species is only found in three river systems and is vulnerable to habitat degradation through pollution and deforestation.
