Identification
Adults can grow up to 3 meters in length for a weight up to 160 kg. Large shark with blunt snout and fairly short dorsal fin. Coloration dark grey to grey brown, clear on belly. Tip and back edges of all fins silvery white.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Red Sea and East Africa east to Tuamotu, north to Ryukyu islands, south to Australia. Lives in inshore and offshore continental and insular shelves, down to 800 m.

CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species has a wide but patchy distribution and has been declining globally because of illegal and unsustainable hunting for food.
