Identification
This species grows to 28 cm in shell length, females being bigger than males. Flattened shell, dark brown with dark red-brown blotches. Yellow plastron. Head and neck with up to four bright yellow longitudinal stripes on sides and cheeks.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South East Asia and is endemic to central Vietnam, being found from Da Nang, westwards to the Annamite mountains. Lives in lowland marshes, slow-moving streams and lakes, up to 150 m.

IUCN RED LIST : CRITICALLY ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix I
Status : The species is very close to extinction in the wild. It is reliably known from only a single wetland and it is likely than less than 50 adults remain.
