Identification
The species grows to 59 cm in length for a weight of 9 kg. Tail very short. Face skin black with very prominent ridge over eyes. Limbs, beast and rump light grey. This subspecies has the rest of its pelage light brown-grey, shorter face.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs only on Muna and Butung Islands, off south-east Sulawesi. Species also found on south-east side of Sulawesi, Indonesia. Lives in lowland and hill forests.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is threatened by loss of habitat in all its range. Habitat fragmentation and poisoning when raiding crops are major threats.
