Identification
The species grows to 73 cm in length for a weight of 13 kg, males much bigger than females. Large head with baboon-like face. Black crown, hairs around face cream. Limbs and belly clear, flanks and back blackish-brown. Short tail.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in south-east Asia from extreme south Thailand to Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo and some of their satellite islands. Lives in lowland and hilly dipterocarp forests, near agricultural areas, to 1900 m.

Status : The species is increasingly threatened by deforestation and illegal hunting. Most of its populations are now small and fragmented.
