Identification
The species can grow up to 30 cm in total length. Triangular head because of two bony ridges on sides of snout, small crest. Coloration is dark with green speckles on head and lower flanks. Large yellow-green band running on flanks.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in eastern Asia and apparently endemic to China, occuring in the provinces of Sichuan, Guizhou and maybe Yunnan. Lives in temperate woodlands and forests, particularly in hilly areas.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a large range but could be vulnerable to loss of habitat locally and overtrapping for the trade.
