Identification
Adults can reach 12 cm. Longer snout than other species of its genus. Pinkish-brown coloration, turning white with vermiculations on lower flanks and belly. Body covered with very thin numerous blue bands, broader bands around eyes.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, from Ryukyu island to Philippines, south to Solomon Islands, east to Vanuatu. Lives in sandy areas in bays, shallow lagoons, sometimes harbors, to 25 m.

Status : The species is locally abundant. However its dependence on algae beds and coral reefs could lead to local declines because of habitat loss.
