Identification
The species can grow to 15 cm in length for a weight of 77 g. Fairly large head, black bill. Coloration mostly green with yellow tinge on belly. Males have blue face and blue collar. Females have less blue on face, black-edged yellow collar.
Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to Luzon island, in the north of Philippines. The species is endemic to Philippines, being also found in Samar, Leyte and Mindanao. Lives in forests and forest edges, also mangroves, to 1000 m.

Status : The species seems to remain common in suitable habitat. It can be adaptable and can occur near human settlements if suitable food items are found.
