Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 20 cm. Elongated and downwards pointed snout, looking like a proboscis. Coloration dark brown to black with three chevron-chaped white lines on flanks. Fins small and pointed.
Range and habitat
Only found in the Kasai river drainage, more precisely in Luachimo river (Angola) and Sankuru river (DR Congo). Lives in slow and fast flowing rivers, even in rapids.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : This species is known from only two localities but may occur somewhere else too. It seems locally common in its so-far very small range.
