Identification
Adults can grow to 13 cm in length. Elongated body. Coloration is white with a faint dark band on upper body. Body spots organised in three rows of two orange spots. Orange dots on head, larger blotch with black edge behind eyes.

Range and habitat
The species lives in the Indo-Pacific area, from East Africa to Ryukyu Islands and north Australia, east to Society Islands. Lives in coastal reef flats, in areas exposed to wave action and surge, to 6 m.

Status : The species has a large range and is locally abundant. It could be vulnerable to coral reef destruction and other effects of global warming.
