Identification
Adults can grow to about 2.4 m in length with females slightly longer and duller than males. Most common coloration is bright green, lighter green on belly, with black band on snout and reddish tail. Brown and grey morphs known.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in south-east Asia, from Andaman Islands, Myanmar and Vietnam to Peninsular Malaysia, Philippines and western Indonesia. Lives in edge of primary forests, second growth and rural areas, to 1100 m.

Status : The species is globally uncommon in its large range. As a forest specialist, it is locally affected by intense deforestation.
