Identification
Adults can grow to a body length of 14 cm with a tail length up to 20 cm. Large head, short but powerful legs. Coloration variable, usually sandy-beige to grey with irregular brown spots (also red sometimes), rarely mottling, on its body.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in North America, in central-western USA, from Oregon and west Colorado to Arizona and western Texas, and adjacent Mexico. Lives in deserts and semi-deserts with low plants and bushes.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a fairly large range and its habitat doesn’t seem to be threatened at this point. It remains globally common.
