Identification
The species can grow up to 11 cm wide. Shell highly domed with clusters of dark red spots. Large pincers with rows blunt spines on top and red spots on upper parts. Ground coloration is orange to grey-brown, cream on belly.
Range and habitat
The species lives in the eastern Atlantic area, from north Portugal to most of Mediterranean sea, south to Mauritania. Lives in all kinds of soft and sandy bottoms, down to 400 meters deep.
