Identification
Elongated-bodied shrimp reaching up to 3 cm in length. Wild specimens have pinkish antennae and flat pink tail. Body white with brownish-black broad transversal bands. Some color mutations are red and white or only red.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in east Asia and is apparently only found in south China, near Guangzhou area and probably in continental parts of Hong Kong. Found in fast-flowing rivers and streams, mostly in upland areas.

CITES : Not listed
Status : This recently described species hasn’t been assessed by the Red List so far. Its range is small and it could be vulnerable to habitat degradation.
