Identification
Adults can grow to 6.5 cm in wingspan. Unmistakable. Upperside is reddish-brown with black forewing tips and conspicuous yellow band separating black from brown. Underside brown with yellow band and grey ocelli on both wings.

Range and habitat
Subspecies found from Myanmar to peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra. Species also found on Borneo, Nias and Mentawai islands. Lives in tropical rainforests from 100 to 300 meters above sea level.

IUCN RED LIST : NOT LISTED
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species seems to be dependant on primary and old secondary rainforests and this could make it endangered in the short term.
