Identification
Adults can grow to a wingspan of 7 cm. Hindwings are pointed. Upperside is bright orange with brown edges, black dots on sides and rows of alternating orange and brown spots on forewing. Underside similar but duller.

Range and habitat
Subspecies found from Malaysia to greater and lesser Sundas in Indonesia. Species occurs from east India to Indonesia and east to Fiji. Lives in woodlands, forests, often in clearings or edges, near streams.

CITES : Not listed
Status : This species has a huge range and remains at least locally common. Some insular subspecies could be threatened by loss of habitat.
