Identification
Adults can grow to 5 cm in length, maybe even longer, with wings folded. Legs thick and spiny, short wings with small abdomen. Very spiny thorax with leaf-shaped extensions. Huge head with powerful mandibles. Coloration olive-brown.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South East Asia and its true range is unknown. Occurs in Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo, perhaps also in Sumatra and Singapore. Lives in bushy areas in forests and woodlands, often in or near leaf litter.
