Identification
The species grows to 5 cm in wingspan. One of the bigger species of the genus. Upperside yellowish to white with very large black edges. Underside is white with small black ocelli and rows of orange lines and spots underlined with blue.
Range and habitat
Subspecies found in Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra. Species occurs from Assam and Thailand to Greater Sundas, Nias and Palawan. Lives in inland forests, often near rocky rivers, to at least 500 m.

Status : The species has a large range but remains fairly uncommon within its range. Strong ties to forest means it is probably vulnerable to deforestation.
