Identification
Adults can grow up to 32 cm in length. Pink ear-spot, white chin, brown crown, white sides of head with black speckles. Brown wings and back. Conspicuous red-brown collar. Dark breast with clear feather edges, light brown belly.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South East Asia and is endemic to the north-east part of Borneo, in the province of Sabah, Malaysia. Lives in primary lowland forests and plantations, often near rivers, to 500 m.

Status : The species’ status is almost unknown. It is locally common but believed to be under intense pressure from hunting and habitat loss.
