Classification

Notes : No subspecies known. C. shanensis and C. tcheponensis are synonyms.

Identification
Adults can grow to about 25 cm in shell length. Shell is round, slightly domed, with flat areas on front and back and flattened edges. Shell brown with fine black lines, black plastron. Legs and neck grey-brown, head speckled dark brown.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-east Asia, from Myanmar and Thailand to Cambodia and Vietnam. Lives in freshwater rivers and swamps near or in forested areas.

Status : This species has been recently assessed. Most of its populations have been lost already and it is highly threated by overhunting and habitat loss.
