Identification
Adults can grow to a body length of 41 cm, tail length of 31 cm and weight up to 1000 g. Slender body, short legs and no dark tip on tail. Coloration usually chocolate brown to reddish brown with slight grizzled appearance on back.

Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to Java. Species also found from Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar to Malaysia and northern Sumatra. Lives in dry forests, grasslands, open woodlands, farmlands and suburban parks.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : This species has a large range and is very adaptable, even thriving in agricultural areas. Hunted in parts of its range but this threat isn’t relevant.
