Identification
Body height of 6 meters, weight of 1930 kg. Cape giraffes are usually dull light brown-grey in ground coloration. Head with faint spotting. Large blotches with dark centers, most often poorly distinct from flanks. Legs fully spotted.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in southern Africa, in south-west Mozambique, south Zimbabwe and South Africa. Species also found from Namibia to north Zimbabwe. Lives in savannas and open woodlands, always with acacia trees.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE (as G. camelopardalis)
CITES : Not listed
Status : This particular taxon hasn’t been assessed for now. It is relatively common in breeding farms and protected areas but very rare elsewhere.
