Identification
The species reaches 11 cm in body length for a weight of 29 g and a tail length of 14 cm. Tail is long and pinkish grey with tail tuft developped. Fur is brown mixed with grey and white on back, white on belly. White spots above eyes.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in eastern Africa and western Asia, from Arabian Peninsula to Pakistan and extreme western India. Lives in wadis, oasis in deserts and semi-deserts. Also gardens and arable lands.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a large range and is globally common. In Asia, it could be threatened locally by development of irrigated cultivations.
