Identification
Adults can reach 28 cm in length for a weight of 129 g. Unmistakable. Black bill, white eyering. Green plumage with yellow tinge on belly and tail. Head and sides of neck light brown-grey with blue feather edges giving scaly effect.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in South America, from south Colombia through east Ecuador and Peru to central Bolivia and nearby Amazonian Brazil. Lives in seasonally flooded forests, swampy second growth, plantations, to 750 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is common in most of its range and seems to be adaptable to changing habitat, even increasing its range. Trade levels are minimal.
