Identification
Body length of 87 cm, tail length of 72 cm, weight of 13 kg. Unmistakable, pinkish face with black areas around the nose and a small white moustache. Whitish limbs and belly, rusty-brown flanks, back, crown and tail.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in subsaharan Africa from south Mauritania to Central African Republic, north Niger and Chad. Species also found from Sudan to Tanzania. Lives in dry open Acacia woodlands, savannas and grasslands, up to 1900 m.

Status : The species has a large range and remains locally common but important declines have been noted in the south-eastern parts of its range.
