Identification
This species can grow up to 30 cm in length. Thick bright red bill, bright blue cheek patch and eye contour. Throat patch and belly bright yellow with olive-green lower breast. Blue tail. Bright green cap and back with dark red rump.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in western Indonesia and is endemic to the island of Sumatra. It lives in lower storey of montane rainforests, from 750 to 2200 meters asl.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : This is a restricted-range species but it remains locally common to abundant in protected areas. Its habitat isn’t yet threatened in most of its range.
