Identification
Adults can grow to 43 cm for a weight of 275 g. Female with all black bill, green plumage and red belly. Male has scarlet breast, belly and head, lighter red than other king parrots. Wings green with a turquoise-green patch, blue collar.
Range and habitat
The species is endemic to eastern Australia, occurring from North-east Queensland to South Victoria.
Lives in rainforests, eucalyptus woodlands, savannas and urban parks, to 1600 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN

Status : The species still has a large range and remains globally common except in deforested or cleared areas where it can no longer survive.
