Identification
Adult can grow to 13 cm in length for a weight of 13 g. Short and slightly curved bill. Female is yellow-green, white eye-ring. Male has iridescent blue-green head and back, brown cheeks, red-brown throat and clear yellow belly.
Range and habitat
This Subspecies occurs in mainland Asia, from south Myanmar to Indochina, south to Greater Sundas. Species also found in Central Indonesia and Philippines. Lives in forest edges, plantations, gardens and mangroves, up to 1200 m.

Status : The species has a large range and can adapt to living in urban gardens. It might be expanding its range northwards. Cebu subspecies likely extinct.
