Identification
One of the largest asian toads, reaching lengths of 21 cm, females being much bigger than males. Whole skin very warty, including on belly. Coloration grey to brown, even blackish-brown. Thicker and longer warts behind head.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South East Asia, in most of Borneo island (Malaysia and Indonesia) and in eastern Sumatra. Lives near rocky streams and rivers in rainforests, sometimes plantations.

Status : Despite its small range, the species has a large population and remains mostly unharmed although sometimes hunted for food.
