Identification
Adults can reach a length of 17.5 cm for males, females being a bit smaller. Domed and oval-shaped shell, fairly big head. Brown coloration with black edges to shell scales. Head brownish with beige sides and small spots.

Range and habitat
The species is endemic to Mexico and only occurs in Oaxaca province (possibly eastern Guerrero), in the basins of Rio Colotepec and Rio Tonameca. Lives in marshes, mostly around muddy areas, rarely in rivers.

CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is apparently uncommon but hasn’t been studied in the wild so far. Locally common in southern Oaxaca.
