Identification
Body length is 33 cm and weight to 290 g. Round body, small head with short black bill, elongated central tail feathers. Male is beige-brown with a think black collar on breast and yellowish head. Female has black spots on body.
Range and habitat
This subspecies is found in south-west and south Arabian Peninsula. The species is also found in Africa from Senegal to Sudan and Asia from Iran to India. Lives in arid areas and deserts with thorny bushes and trees, up to 1500 m.

Status : This species is still common and widespread. Race floweri from Nile valley is probably extinct. The other subspecies are safe.
