Identification
Adults can reach 15 cm in length. Coloration light pearly grey-beige with black dots on flank scales. Dorsal and anal fins black with blue edges. Yellow tail. Dark mask, clear chin and lips, black band near tail. Yellow spot behind face mask.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indian Ocean, in the western part, from Mauritius to India and Sri Lanka. Lives in coral rich reefs, from 5 to 25 meters deep.

Status : The species has a fairly large range but is patchily distributed throughout. No known threats besides the destruction of coral reefs.
