Identification
Adults can grow up to 5 cm in length, females being bigger than males. Fairly large head. Silvery-grey eyes. Coloration is either reddish-brown or light green, cream underside. Flanks and sides of legs bright orange with black stripes.
Range and habitat
The species is found in South America, in most of the Amazonian basin, east of the Andes, except in Peru and Ecuador. Lives in secondary growth in humid areas, open dry tropical forests, flooded prairies.

Status : The species is listed as Least Concern by IUCN. It is reasonably common and can live in a wide variety of habitats. Sometimes captured for trade.
