Identification
This is one of the largest weevil species, growing to a length of about 10 cm. Elongated trunk-like curved jaws. Elytrae show dark longitudinal ridges. Coloration is chestnut-red on back, black on flanks and head. Large black forelegs.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South East Asia, around the Malaysian peninsula and nearby islands. Mostly found in forests and woodlands, rarely in plantations.

Status : The species’ status has not been assessed yet. The species remains safe so far but it could become threatened by high-scale deforestation.
