Identification
Large jellyfish reaching a maximum bell diameter of 70 cm and length of 33 cm high.. Tentacles are thick and split in smaller side tentacle and a thicker and long tentacle tip that is often red-orange. Bell coloration is often light reddish.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, from Japan, China and Taiwan to Borneo and peninsular Malaysia. Lives in open sea areas, usually not too far from shores, in subtropical and tropical waters.

Status : The species has yet to be assessed by IUCN. It has a large range and seems to remain common but is harvested by fisheries in many countries.
