Identification
Adults can reach a body length of 84 cm, tail length of 85 cm and weight of 9.5 kg. Head and most of fur dark orange-chocolate with limbs dirty yellowish and two parallel yellow bands on back. Tail is faintly ringed.
Range and habitat
The species is endemic to the island of New Guinea. This subspecies occurs in the central mountain ranges in Papua New Guinea. Mostly found in primary tropical rainforest, from 1000 to 2860 meters.

Status : The species is listed as endangered. It has declined in most of its range because of heavy hunting pressure for food and deforestation.
