Identification
Large amazon reaching 38 cm in length for a weight of 517 g. Plumage bright green with red shoulder patches. Horn-colored bill. This subspecies has yellowish belly, dark edges on nape, head yellow (more or less extensive).

Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to the eastern coast of Mexico. The species is found in western and eastern coasts of Mexico south to Belize, Honduras and north-east Guatemala.

Conservation
IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix I
Status : The species has gone trough a dramatic decline with more than 90% of specimens lost. Magna seems to be the safest subspecies in the wild.
