Identification
Total length of 23 cm for a weight of 136 g. Bright red legs, yellow bill with red area around nostrils. Plumage mostly green with grey-violet mottling on wings. Violet to purple collar on neck, white chin and bright orange forehead.
Range and habitat
The species is found on western Papuan islands and New Guinea except in the central and north-east areas. Lives in secondary forests, mangroves, savannas and parks around towns.

Status : The species is locally common to abundant. It can adapt to slight habitat degradations and lives better in secondary forests. Often found near towns.
