Identification
The species can reach 35 cm in length. Yellowish-green belly, dark green plumage, dark blue tinge on cheeks. Dark red forehead, extending above eyes in a dark supercilium. Crown is green mixed with dark red. Bill dark pink and grey.

Range and habitat
The species has a small range in northern South America, from East Colombia through Orinoco basin in Venezuela, east to North-west Guyana. Lives in humid lowlands, in flooded forests and around rivers, up to 100 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species has a very small range. It used to be common but most populations, especially around Orinoco basins have declined significantly.
