Identification
Adults can reach a record length of 10 cm, females being bigger than males. Triangular head with rounded snout. No dark temporal band behind eyes. Grey thighs with olive vermiculations. Body green, grey or brown, light green dorsal band.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in Western Europe and is found from the Southern Half of France to Iberian peninsula. It has been introduced in nearby islands and England. Lives in forests, gardens, rocky areas, prairies, near water, up to 2300 meters.

Status : The species occurs in a broad range of habitats and remains secure so far. Populations in France are scattered and declining rapidly.
