Identification
The species grows only to 2.6 cm in length, females being bigger than males. Easily recognizable by its entirely golden-orange coloration (sometimes nearly yellow or red). Females have a rounder body. Black eyes, skin slightly granulous.

Range and habitat
The species is endemic to a small area of east-central Madagascar, around Antaniditra, Menalamba and Marais de Torotorofotsy. Lives in upland wet swamp forests with dense surrounding vegetation.

IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species has an extremely small range and its habitat is slowly destroyed and highly fragmented. It is still illegally collected for the trade.
