Identification
Adults can grow to 36 cm for a weight of 463 g. Red upper mandible, black lower mandible. Dark green wings and back with yellow-green area. Blackish tail. This subspecies isn’t dimorphic except for blue nape patch for male.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs on north and north-west New Guinea. The species is found in northern, west-central and eastern New Guinea. Lives in the interior parts of hilly rainforests, rarely second growth, to 2300 meters.

Status : The species is apparently globally uncommon. It is occasionally captured for trade and Indonesian populations are most at risk.
