Identification
Adults can grow to slightly more than 15 cm in length. Broad and powerful pincers. Head shows conspicuous longitudinal ridges. Coloration is greyish-green with pincers being bluish with red articulations and underside.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in Australasia, on the island of New Guinea, both on the Indonesian and Papuan sides. Lives in freshwater rivers and lakes.
