Identification
Adults can grow to slightly more than 10 cm in length. Large head with broad pointed snout, large horns protruding above eyes. Coloration is brown with mottling. Large yellowish bands making a cross over body, X marking above eyes.

Range and habitat
The species is found in South America, in the Chaco area of east and south-east Bolivia, Paraguay and north Argentina. Lives in dry shrublands and gallery forests, up to 200 meters.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has particular habitat requirements that could make it threatened as its habitat is degraded rapidly. It is also threatened by overexploitation.
