Identification
The species can reach about 1.80 meter in length. Very long, slender body, with elongated and flattened head. Snout is long but with a blunt end. Coloration from brown to bright green, often with a yellow line on lower flanks.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in most of South East Asia, from east India and Myanmar to west and Central Indonesia. Species also found in China and Philippines. Lives in forests, scrublands, plantations and gardens, in bushy areas, to 1300 m.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species is believed to be common in most of its range although it is more and more captured for the pet trade. Adapts to man-made habitats.
