Identification
This species can grow to a body length of 57 cm for a weight of 4.7 kg. Conspicuous crest running from eyes to nape. Grey flanks, black back, rufous-orange belly, light cheeks. This subspecies has darker legs and more black on head.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in Equatorial Guinea, western Gabon and Republic of Congo. Species also found from Nigeria to Central African Republic and DR Congo. Lives in lowland tropical forest with high canopy, old secondary forests.

Status : The species remains numerous and widespread in protected areas but has been declining elsewhere because of hunting and deforestation.
