Identification
The species grows to 70 cm in length for a weight of 8 kg. Coloration is ususally dark brown to brown-grey with golden-grizzling on back and slight white areas on belly. Conspicuous white spot covering most of the nose.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs from Cameroon to north-west Angola and Central African Republic. Species also found in Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Liberia and on Bioko. Lives in primary and old secondary forest, submontane forests.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is still reasonably common but western populations and population on Bioko are threatened by hunting and habitat loss.
