Identification
This subspecies usually reaches around 2 meters in length, often less. Coloration black with grey to grey-beige blotches on back and flanks (sometimes merging into bands on flanks). Grey belly.
Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to inland Australia, from south Queensland and north Victoria to South Australia. The species also occurs in New Guinea. Lives in dry forests mostly near rivers and running water, rocky outcrops and dry woodlands, mostly in lowland.

Status : This species isn’t considered threatened in the wild. Some populations are declining, mostly because of destruction habitat (overgrazing).
