Identification
Small tanager reaching 12 cm in length for a weight of 17.8 g. Breast, back, wings and tail black. Broad greenish-blue stripes on wings. White belly with blue flanks, blue lower back. Dark blue head with light cheeks and small black mask.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, from extreme north Brazil and Guyana to Venezuela and central Colombia, south to east Bolivia and central Brazil. Lives in edges of humid and riverine forest, second growth and clearings, to 1400 m.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species isn’t dependant on intact forest to survive so it faces little threats for the upcoming future. It remains globally uncommon within its range.
